Featured Speaker: Beatriz Bezerra, DDS, PhD

Periodontal disease is highly prevalent in the adult population and has been linked to several chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, just to name a few. In this lecture we will discuss the potential impact of periodontal disease on chronic diseases and review best clinical practices for the management of periodontal diseases in patients with type 2 diabetes and other chronic conditions.

Dr. Beatriz Bezerra is a board-certified Periodontist and full-time Clinical Assistant Professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Dr. Bezerra completed her dental and postgraduate degrees in Brazil and obtained her AEGD and Periodontics and Implant Dentistry certificate from the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, NY. Dr. Bezerra is actively involved in predoctoral and post-doctoral education at the UCLA School of Dentistry, and maintains a private practice limited to Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in Westwood.
